Secure Online Fax for New York Law Firms & Courts
New York attorneys, from large Midtown Manhattan firms to solo practitioners in upstate counties, still fax documents to courts, agencies, and opposing counsel. Much of the state runs on the NYSCEF e-filing system, but plenty of courts and document types remain on fax, and service of process under the CPLR can travel that way when the rules and the receiving party allow it.
Regulations & Compliance
The Civil Practice Law and Rules govern how New York attorneys file with the courts and serve papers, and the Uniform Rules for Trial Courts fill in the procedural detail. The Office of Court Administration runs NYSCEF, while fax stays accepted for certain filings and for courts not yet on the system. The New York State Bar Association's Rules of Professional Conduct also bear on how attorneys handle and transmit client documents, which makes a reliable, dated transmission confirmation worth keeping.
